Snapped this at my cousin's evening party. The rose reads warm under string lights, and the one-shoulder line stayed put all night.

Photo from a fundraiser. Black is properly black, the strap did not bite, and the slit is dramatic but manageable.

Peacock satin, one strap, dramatic slit. My usual 8 was exact and I stayed comfortable on my feet for hours.

Sage green is pretty. At 5'10" the slit opened too high and the waist sat wrong for my height.

Pale blue looked washed out on me and the armhole cut into my shoulder. Athletic frames need width here and the pattern does not allow it. The satin itself is good, so this is a fit issue, not fabric.

Deep violet and a lovely colour. The waist had spare fabric, a seamstress fixed it cheaply, and I kept the dress in the end.

Lavender is soft and modern. It skims a rounder middle and I needed no shapewear underneath.

Royal blue with real saturation and no purple cast. Hourglass, 5'6", size 10: waist fitted, hips flowed, and the slit let me take stairs two at a time. I have already lent it to my sister.

Taupe is an elegant neutral, better than cream for a winter event. My shoulders are strong and the single strap pulled slightly at the armhole by midnight. A small alteration will fix it.

The champagne looked refined, but the size 12 was tight through the hip and the waist sat high, so the slit opened in the wrong place when I walked. A size up would have been shapeless. Returned.

Blush pink is sweet but the dress ran wide everywhere, and on an apple shape the extra fabric at the middle made me look pregnant. Two sizes down would be right. Nice colour and slit, poor grading.

Jewel green, clean cut, and the single shoulder holds without tape. Straight frame, size 8, nothing to alter.

Marigold was a bold choice and I loved it. The waist ran generous on my middle and a seamstress took it in. Worth the small cost.
